The Main WBS is simply a grouping of activities. The Main WBS will not be viewable by employees during time and expense entry, but it can be a field in reports. An example of a Main WBS could be a contract number. A company could also use Main WBS with many clients and projects to group them in sets. There may be any number of Main WBSs. At least one main WBS is required.

To create a main WBS:

  1. Click on WBS to expand the menuExpand WBS by clicking on the plus sign.
  2. Click on Main WBS.
  3. In the Main WBS window, click the Add button.
  4. Enter the unique main WBS ID in the Main WBS field. This field is limited to 20 characters.
  5. In the Short Name field, enter a name to identify the Level 2 TypeMain WBS. The maximum length for this field is 50 characters.
  6. In the Long Name field, enter a long name to identify the Main WBS. This field is limited to 100 characters.
  7. In the Description field, enter text to further identify the Main WBS. This field is limited to 255 characters.
  8. Check the Active box.
  9. Click the Save button.Click on Save
